Write Night ceremonies were held on the Valdosta and Ben Hill-Irwin Campuses recently celebrating the ninth edition of the award-winning literary journal, “The Wiregrass Reader.” The goal of the journal is to promote literacy within the Wiregrass region of Georgia while preserving and honoring its ecological, historical, and cultural legacy.
Wiregrass Student Veterans of America Club (SVA) celebrated Veterans Day 2016 with a breakfast on the Valdosta Campus honoring the contributions and sacrifices of all veterans.
Over 1,000 students signed up to participate in the Get Wired for a Career event held on the Valdosta Campus Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Programs featured were the technical and industrial programs, along with horticulture, cosmetology, barbering, and culinary arts. Corks and Forks is a Wiregrass Foundation South annual fundraising event. Monies raised are used to fund scholarships, textbook assistance for students, program expansions, equipment and supplies for programs. Wiregrass GA Tech recently hosted a Practical Nursing Forum sponsored by the Technical College System of Georgia. Practical Nursing is one of 28 programs offered at Wiregrass that qualifies for the Governor’s Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant (SIWDG).
The event was held on the Valdosta Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College on Monday, September 19, 2016. The grand opening and ribbon cutting of our new Allied Health and Public Safety building AND the Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy was held on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
