For the first time, on December 16, 2016, Wiregrass Commencement Exercises were held at the UGA Conference Center in Tifton, Georgia. The ceremony included all credit programs and GED graduates, and the John Hunt Auditorium easily accommodated the families and friends of our graduates.
Anthony Urrabazo has been chosen to represent Wiregrass Georgia Technical College as the 2017 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Student of the Year. Student of the Year Benjamin Holley represents Wiregrass at the Georgia EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta March 14-16. The Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs. Congratulations, Benjamin!
Recently, Wiregrass was host to the TCSG State Board Meeting. Our own Judy Stewart, Executive Director, Wiregrass South Regional CLCP, was named a 2015 Georgia Press Association CLCP Leader of Distinction. The Ben Hill-Irwin Campus hosted over 400 middle school, high school, and adult ed learners on Thursday, October 23, 2014 for our annual “GET WIRED for a Career” day.

The second annual Are You Smarter than a Wild Chicken Spelling Bee was held Tuesday, March 19 in the Charles Harris Learning Center. The Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Chamber of Commerce team came away with first place!
Adult Education classes and offices were recently moved from their Pine Street location to the college’s Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. The open house was held on March 11 and showcased the recently renovated areas that include multiple classrooms and a new computer lab as well as instructor offices.
Congratulations to the Satilla Elementary team who was crowned the Spelling Bee Champion! The Coffee County Board of Education team came in second place, and one of our Wiregrass teams came in third. Congratulations to all the teams, and thank you for supporting Adult Education in Coffee County!
The spelling bee was held on Thursday, February 28 at the Walker Street School in Quitman, GA. Our own Wiregrass team, The Mod Squad, came away with first place! Congratulations!!!
