Over 1,000 students signed up to participate in the Get Wired for a Career event held on the Valdosta Campus Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Programs featured were the technical and industrial programs, along with horticulture, cosmetology, barbering, and culinary arts. The grand opening and ribbon cutting of our new Allied Health and Public Safety building AND the Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy was held on Thursday, July 21, 2016. TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin, along with students, instructors, local legislators and business leaders were there to celebrate with us.
Middle and high school students from Ben Hill, Irwin, and Wilcox counties learn about careers and participate in team building events at “Get Wired!” on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus.
On October 22, over 400 middle and high school students visited the Valdosta Campus to learn about careers in professional services. Some of the programs represented were: cosmetology, esthetics, early childhood care and education, commercial truck driving, culinary arts, fire science, and horticulture.
On September 22, 2015 almost 200 middle and high school students from area high schools visited our campus for our annual Construction Fair. Middle and high school students from our service area were on the Valdosta Campus Tuesday, April 14 for our annual “Get Wired for a Career in Healthcare” event. By observation and through hands-on activities, students get an idea of what it might be like to work in various health care occupations.
This year we hosted the largest group ever for a career event! We had over 1,000 students plus chaperones from 10 different schools.
